ABOUT US
Deidre raised both of her children, Caitlin and Collin in New Canaan, CT before moving to Greenwich, CT with her husband, Steve – a lifelong Greenwich resident. When Deidre and Steve became empty-nesters, Deidre had the idea of listing the guest house on their property – affectionately referred to by the family as “The Cottage” – on Airbnb. The Cottage began getting booked at a fast rate and before Deidre and Steve knew it, their pet project became a source of solid income. They have hosted guests from all over the US, Europe and Asia. Meeting so many new people and watching visitors enjoy The Cottage the same way their family had for years was an extremely rewarding feeling. Her hosting skills are frequently noted in the reviews on Airbnb – perhaps her property management talent comes from working for a large local real estate firm, William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty for 12 years. While there, she worked as the Director of Operations as well as the Vice President of Relocation, where she was responsible for maintaining occupied and vacant properties before and after transferees moved in and out of homes in Fairfield County. She became highly experienced in all facets of managing properties including hands on experience with vendors, renters and Connecticut State Law for Home Owners and Landlords. Her hobbies and interest include cooking beautiful meals for her family and painting colorful child-like animals which she donates to children’s hospitals in low-income areas around the United States.
Caitlin grew up in New Canaan, CT and moved to Greenwich, CT after graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2011. She worked in New York City and moved to the Upper East Side in Manhattan while working at an IT and Cybersecurity firm servicing hedge funds. She married her husband, Brad, in 2016 and before starting a family, the couple decided to travel as much of the world as possible. For the last year, Caitlin and Brad have spent time in Thailand, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, England, Croatia and Italy. Caitlin used Airbnb for her accommodations throughout her travels and fell in love with the idea of having a place to come “home” to instead of a hotel room stay in. She knows firsthand what an Airbnb property needs to offer for a comfortable, memorable, 5-star stay. During her travels, Caitlin met and spent time with multiple Airbnb hosts and guests, learning about what works and what doesn’t from their experiences. She notes that with more remote job positions becoming available, and companies like Airbnb and Uber making traveling more accessible to the masses, she has developed an interest in the future of the global real estate market. Her interests and hobbies include photography, blogging about travel & lifestyle, and supporting animal charities like Bully Breed Rescue in Norwalk, CT and the Soi Dog Foundation in Bangkok, Thailand.
